I just noticed to the left of the wireless symbol there looks like an arrow pointing upward.

Went into settings and it said my Bluetooth and Airplane mode is on off.

Don't know what this is or how to get rid of it.

Help!!

Thanks, Jamma

I don't own a kindle, but if I had to guess it could be one of two things. I'm leaning towards the second one.

1.) it could be a symbol designating that something is in the process of downloading

2.) if it's an arrow pointing in a NE direction (looks like a compass arrow), then it's your location services. One of or more of your apps are using your location. I know on iPads and iPhone you can go into settings and turn off location services under privacy.

i hope this helps!

Amazon has a Kindle forum where you could go and ask for help.  http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle

If you want to download anything or be online, your Airplane Mode *should* be Off. If you turn Airplane Mode On you are shutting off your wi-fi and/or 3/4G connection ability. It's the Fire's equivalent of wi-fi off.

Whether Bluetooth should be on depends on if you are using it. If you have BT headphones, a BT keyboard, etc and you are using them *at the moment* you want BT on. But BT should be Off any time you are not actively using it or it will just munch through your battery life.

Bluetooth allows you to pair your tablet with another device. You could use an added Bluetooth keyboard for typing or Bluetooth speaker to enhance the sound while playing music.

Airplane mode allows you to shut off your wireless card in the device.

The correct setting(s) is off, when not in use Bluetooth or Airplane mode.
