Help w/saving photos from cell phone to SD card

I'm transferring from Tracfone Alcatel One Touch to the LG Sunset.  I have pictures on my cell phone that I want to save to a SD card and insert it into the LG Sunset.  Can someone tell me how to save the pictures to the card so i can have the photos on the Sunset?  Is it possible to do this?  Thanks in advance for your advice and help!
