Is there a proper "system" procedure to eject a media card reader/USB stick? Maybe bypassing that step 'hanks' up the system. Disclaimer....I know very little about computers, but when I yank out my USB stick on my Mac, a "you did it wrong" box pops up, but still works. Maybe PCs are different...?

You need to properly eject anything plugged into your computer. On a Mac, right click on the device and select eject. On a PC, use the safely remove hardware utility down by the clock.

Re: Help please--is this a hardware or a software issue?

Glb613--Yes, it was a true factory recovery each time. Even so (and with the camera software program not installed), I would still have problems with being able to safely eject any flash drive I tried. Changing the autoplay settings--whether done by me or by the techs--didn't remedy any of the problems. Oh, I forgot to mention previously that the techs had also tried your suggestion about going to msconfig to fix things, but weren't successful.

You mentioned that having photos on my flash drives might be why the camera SW kept opening. I thought of that, too, and think that was definitely a contributing factor. So frustrating, though, because no matter what I tried or the techs tried, couldn't get it to stop opening up until the one tech removed it from Startup. I'm going to download CCleaner and see if that will help in the future. Is this the correct site to get it from: www.piriform.com? Thanks.
