My sister's computer is infected and shut down. This box came up with XP Security 2012 on it but she didn't click on it then it shut down and now she can't open anything. There's no toollbar or icons or can't open IE. Can't do a system restore.
Has anyone had this and how do we get rid of it? I googled it from my computer and several different things came up telling how to do it but how do I know what's safe. She doesn't have malwarebytes or anything like it installed but she does have Vipre installed that I gave to her and I guess it didn't pick it up. Why would Vipre not work?
Please can you tell me an easy way to do it. Someone online said to reboot and hit delete and reset the clock 7 days forward.
It's a free country. Say what you will, but please be kind.
Don't judge,it's not up to us.
