Is it easy to add outlook?
‎07-13-2014 02:05 AM
Please give Microsoft a call on there 800 #. DH and I tried for days to get it on my HP desk top computer (2 yrs ago). We couldn't make heads or tails out of the mess.
Microsoft installed it on 2 computers within a matters of minutes. They know which pages to punch, push, whatever to install outlook.
I have outlook 2010 on my computers and love it.
The down side it cost me $100.00 for 1 computer but we kind of pushed her into installing it on the 2nd computer, she did it as a favor normally it would have cost me $100 for each computer.

There is nothing to installing a program. If your computer has an optical drive, put in the disk and follow the instructions. If your computer doesn't have an optical drive or if you prefer, you can download a copy from the internet.

What windows version do you have? I just went from Windows XP to a new computer with Windows 8.1. I was using Outlook Express under XP. (I know that's different from full Outlook program.)
So I had to install Mozilla Thunderbird for my email on Win 8.1. It was free and I like it. It was very easy to set up. Only took 1 or 2 seconds. I was able to import my address from my old computer Outlook Express.

I have always used MS Outlook for my email. We used it at work from the very beginning of installing the network. I bought the March Dell TSV with MS Office that comes with One Note instead of Outlook. (One Note is a useless program for my needs.) I almost didn't buy it because of that, but it had a lot of what I needed and my old Dell laptop is seven years old, so I bought it anyway.
I then had to purchase Outlook separately. It installed very easily, using the DVD/CD drive, as any other program. I did have to set up the various codes so it would work with Comcast, but I had them written down from years prior, so that was also no big deal.
IMO, there is no email program like Outlook, I never use that email address online, so I get very little spam, if any at all. So it would be worth it to buy it separately. The Premier Support techs will help you with connecting it to your cable provider service if you've never done that before.

Let me tell you. First of all my husband got me a Windows 8 computer for Christmas and I was too scared about 8 to switch so I didn't even open it and took it back. Then in April my husband got a new HP laptop with 8.1 and I set it up for him and got familiar with 8.1 so I was ok. Costco had a great online deal on a HP desktop so I got it and LOVE IT! I don't use the new tile start screen at all or very much. It boots right to the old style desktop we all know and love. I got my old Dell winXP in 2006 so it was slow! And I had resisted putting service pack 3 on it until last year when I needed it for a program.
Couldn't believe I got my very old programs to install and run under 8.1. Like I have Word97 and Excel97. It's taking days and days to copy all my files and pictures over using a flash drive. I imported my email addresses to Thunderbird, now I have to figure out how to copy over all my old emails.

You may want to go to Mozilla Web site for help with Thunderbird.
