For those of you who have phones with Gorilla Glass, do you have a screen protector on it? I googled a bit and it said that although the glass was strong, it can be scratched by sand.

I have an Android phone with gorilla glass and I put a screen protector on it. I do that with all my tech gear.

I didn't used to, but after breaking my iPhone 5S screen twice, now I do. Even though the Gorilla Glass is stronger for the iPhone 6 models, I bought a screen protector the same day I bought my new phone. I chose a Zagg HDX, which isn't made of glass and is less slippery. Because it's less slippery, I have the added bonus of dropping my phone less and having more protection if it is dropped.
The phone screen is still clear and there's no delay in responsiveness on the phone. It cost me $25, which is far less than the cost of a new screen, even with Apple Care or other insurance.

You don't need a SP these days. It's just a gimmick to make you spend more money. I never inderstood why people care about how a phone looks and then as soon as they get it, they cover it up and make it a brick. OH BTW, Gorillia glass is also a gimmick. I dare you to drop it at an angle...go ahead....drop it...

LOL, you do know a SP only protects from scratches and if you crack your screen the glass won't fly off in pieces. IT DOES NOTHING to protect it from cracking, just scratches. Again, go ahead, drop your iphone with your overprice piece of plastic.

I just have a regular screen protector on my Samsung S4. I then have an Otterbox case over everything. This arrangement is cheaper than a new phone.

My take on it has been the gorilla glass is strong so a protecter is optional. However with the extra strength comes a more brittle glass. So the real risk is shattering. Can't win can we? I just go commando and hope I don't drop it.

Before I bought the LG Ultimate 2, I did some research on the Gorilla Glass screen and it did say that it can be scratched by sand. So, if I was going to be on the beach a lot (which I'm not), I would definitely put a screen protector on it. (For all my previous phones I went onto Amazon and bought from independent sellers.) It isn't scratched, however, by things like jewelry and such.
I haven't bothered to put screen protectors on the LG Ultimate for either my DH or myself and we've had absolutely no problem. Usually, my DH would've scratched his screen within the first ten minutes! I've just looked at his and it's in pristine condition. (Oh, yes, and he has dropped his phone at least once on our quarry stone floor in the mudroom from a height of about five feet - not a scratch and no cracks!)

Do you need to be so condescending?
