@hckynutJohn, what a nice post to Ford. You are such a kind man. I am very, very happy you are feeling better. Sounds like being your own advocate for your health is working. I find that taking care of one's own health by trying different things is the way to go. (along with regular Dr care).

@LilacTree, swapping those two units out seems like the way to go. The main box will give you so much more to watch. If your daughter sleeps a lot (and bless her heart, Lyme is very real, and very dibilitating Smiley Sad), then to put it in the room where you are certainly makes sense.

It is not hard. Just study the wires before you take it apart, so you just set it up the same way on your TV.

Putting the add-on box into your daughters room is simple also.

Once you get it set up, if you have any problem, just call Comcast and press the # that says "refresh my signal". Refreshing usually clears up anything.

I think of your daughter often. I have a friend who was as sick as she is, and she finally gave up on Drs, as they truly do not know how to treat it. She join some bee venom groups on FB, and began educating herself on bee venum therapy. It is an "out there" treatment, but the health improvements are nothing short of miraculous. It is cheap too. Maybe your daughter would be interested in researching bee venum therapy. There are groups on Facebook if she is just curious enough to join and read others posts and begin to get an understanding of just what it is. My friend has gone from bedridden to being able to care for her 4 children again. Just throwing it out there for you Smiley Happy

Thank you for the info . . . I will mention it to my daughter.  However, she's usually way ahead of me on anything regarding Lyme.  I have even read about the bee venom possibility myself, but don't know what she thinks, or what to believe anymore.  She is very active online with many groups.  My newsfeed on FB (which I wish I could get rid of) shows many Lyme discussions and I see my daughter's name often.

You are certainly right about the doctors.  My gastro doc, who I used to love, is very caustic about it existing in a chronic form.  I never talk about my daughter anymore when I see him.

All of her money goes to docs and meds that insurance will not pay for.  Right now she is on IV supplements once a week.  She pays the doctor several hundred a week for these treatments, and then he sends her a bill for $1,000!!  When she asked him why the extra bill, he told her the weekly payments do not represent the entire cost.  The treatments have helped though, and she's back on doxycycline.  Her attitude is this is her life now, 30+ more years of it.

That is so sad. There are thousands and thousands suffering with Lyme.

Functional doctors seem to have a good handle on it, but they are very expensive, as very few take any kind of insurance. They can charge thousands because they know regular Dr's are not knowledgeable, nor will they treat it, so there is a bit of price gouging going on.

I am sorry she is feeling like this is her life now. It does take an aggressive treatment plan, and it does take a long time, but a better quality of life is possible. I know my friend spent thousands to get a "teeny" bit better.

That is when she went to bee venom. The bees are cheap. It does require 2 or more years for it to work, so that in itself can be an overwhelming thought. I know she had no option, she has 4 school age kids. She had to quit her job, so her family went down to one income. It has been a grueling 3 years for her, but she has finally taken back her health and is able to care for her children.

I really do think of your daughter often. I don't even know her, but I believe the level of suffering she is enduring. Just being believed for a Lyme person is a feat in itself.

I just do not understand why the CDC barely recognizes it and puts very little research into it. I think it is going to be one of those diseases like Fibromyalgia. No one believed that was real either back in the late 90's. Now it is on the list of accepted conditions for disability, even though they have not come far with any treatment. At least they finally believe it is real. Lyme will probably be the same way, unfortunately.

@LilacTree, before you remove any cables, take a photo with your phone or iPad of the setup and where wires are plugged into the device.  When you set it up in your room, you can use the photo as a guide to what gets plugged into what.  Good luck!  LM

@gardenman

Just to let you and everyone else who commented know, my daughter and I were able to solve the TV cable/router problem.  She believed the living room TV was probably the best place to put the main router because then neither she or I would have to be disturbed if something were to go wrong.

So that's where we put it, and all three TVs are working great now with no error messages or other issues.  We've tested everything.

So thank you for your help.  I must admit, my daughter pretty much did everything and, as you said, it was very easy.

Also thanks to all of you who commented on my daughter's illness and my own, and offered so much information on that as well.

I am so grateful for the many friends I have here.  You have no idea how much it means to me.
