Re: Flash Device Stopped Working - Help!

So it was just one that failed? I got the impression both were not working.

As Mz wrote, you may be able to get a refund, or, in my experience a replacement. They'll possibly want you to send the bad one so they can try to determine what happened.

Yes, I know about removing hardware properly. Thanks Lynnj!

I click on an icon on my bottom tool bar that says "Eject USB device." If it's ok, it will then say "Safe to Remove Hardware" and that's when I know I can detach the flash drive. If it isn't ok, I get a warning box in the center of my screen that says "Other programs in use. Close them before removing hardware."

I really like my inexpensive computer. It's very good with warnings for everything.

Okay, great. Glad to hear that you do that. You should see if the manufacturer of the flash drive has a warrantee, and see if you drive can be replaced.

I've purchased flash drives at Costco. Not that I've had a problem with any flash drive I have (knock on wood), but I know Costco has a great return policy. Try bringing it back to the store you purchased it and see if they will take it back.

But...if either the manufacturer or store agrees to take it back, I wouldn't actually give it to them if there is any personal information saved to it. Since it doesn't work on your computer, you have no way to erase the drive before giving it back. I'd explain that to the store or manufacturer if they agree to a refund. Really, the drive is useless to both of you.

Re: Flash Device Stopped Working - Help!

This is why you should never use a flash drive as a backup. It's fine for a second or third copy but, never use it as your primary storage device.
