Firewall/Anti-virus

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet and would like to know, do I really need a firewall or anti-virus program for it. I have read that if you don't do online banking, purchases, and things of that nature you probably don't need one. I just mostly use it to have whenever I'm not around the PC so I can look things up, use the web, read e-mail, etc. Any advice is appreciated. TIA, Susie
