@SaRina wrote:Hi Toppers - As I wrote in my OP, "FF has been my "go to" browser for several years. It seems to be the only browser in which I can copy images from my Photobucket, which is important to me. Chrome and IE don't seem to do that." The difference between Chrome and IE's "Copy" function is that their option says "Copy Image" rather than just plain "Copy" like it says in FF. Why that difference in verbiage doesn't allow the "Paste" to work in Chrome or IE, I do not know. That's why I asked the question about if anyone uses Photobucket successfully in FF, as I have been able to do that for quite a few years until now.
Now I can't maneuver at all in FF because of the "Unresponsive Plugin" and "Busy Script" I have been encountering in the past couple of weeks, so that leaves me with no browser that is capable of copying my photos. I have e-mailed Photobucket about this, but do not expect an answer this year. *eyeroll*
@SaRina, I keep thinking about this problem.
I looked around on the internet and saw a couple of things.
Some people with this problem discovered Shockwave Flash was installed twice on their browser. That will cause conflicts. It usually was a problem with Chrome, but it's still worth checking. Look on the Firefox toolbar for the drop-down menu under "Tools." Click "Add-ons" and then click "Plugins."
If it's there twice, disable one of the copies. You'll see choices to "Ask to Activate," "Always Activate," or "Never Activate." Choose "Never" to disable one of the copies.
If it's only there once, try disabling it temporarily to see if that makes a difference. In many cases you really don't need Shockwave Flash, and it doesn't hurt to test the various settings -- you always can go back and change them again.
Choose "Never Activate." Then clear cookies/cache*, close the browser, relaunch it, and see if the problem is still there.
(*In case you're not familiar, you can adjust settings to clear these things every time you "quit" the browser or you can do it manually: "Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer"

@pack leader, Microsoft is devoting its resources to Edge and I believe that to be the reason IE is becoming more and more problematic. IE's being phased out and eventually will be replaced by Edge. The reviews have been favorable, and it's nice to see you've had a good experience with it.

I've been busy reading...and reading...and reading,..and trying different things. It's dizzying. Especially to someone who really isn't all that interested in the technical aspects of computering.
Toppers - I did FF in Safe Mode with no change. Thanks again.
Doobdoo - Interestingly, about Shockwave Flash....
I had installed it a week or so ago because the dialogue box kept telling me "Shockwave Flash may be busy". Since Shockwave wasn't in my Programs list, my "logic" told me maybe I NEEDED to install it, lol.
HOWEVER, I just checked my "Plug-Ins" in FF (different category from Add-ons/Extensions and....lo and behold, there was Shockwave Flash!
I then uninstalled the Shockwave I had installed myself, which was then deleted from my "Programs" list. At this point, I was still getting the crash in Photobucket.
So I then "Deactivated" Shockwave in my FF Plug-in menu (which, BTW, I never knew was there in the first place. Is it possible this was installed with the latest FF update?)
SUCCESS!!! I just copied and pasted one of my photos from Photobucket, in FF!
In my reading, I came across my computer's performance statistic, which is a 3.3 (range 1.7-7.9 being the best) so my computer's performance is not that great to begin with. I learned that one problem is that I have too many programs running at Windows start-up. It gave me a list of about 15 programs (in Task Manager) and suggested I delete some. I don't know what any of them mean, so I deleted 3 that didn't seem too important.
I also learned in my reading that running FF for a long time can use up more memory unnecessarily. (And I purchased my computer several years ago with minimal memory as I only use it for browsing, emails, and games). Yikes. I often keep FF on all day! Maybe not such a good idea. (*embarrassed*)
I do clean out my cookies and cache every day in the 2 browsers I use, Chrome and FF.
Anyhow, I thank you all once again. I still think these problems always happen with the updates.
Doobdoo - BTW, your notifications showed up 10 times (!) in my Notifications screen. What's up with that? :-)

Hi, again, @SaRina! I'm so glad all is well now.
Wow, 10 notifications!?! I guess the system really wanted you to know!
Someone reported the same thing before -- I think it's in a thread the Suggestion Box -- and I believe the techs thought it was fixed so I'll report it as an existing bug.

In the past 2-3 weeks, FF has become "Unresponsive" on too many occasions and the screen freezes. Then I get a dialogue box that says "A Script may be busy", "Shockwave Flash is unresponsive", etc. and I give up. I've written to FF about this issue. BTW, my Adobe Flash is up-to-date and I just installed Shockwave Flash.
A FF update a month or so ago was critically important because of some sort of lapse in security so I have the most recent version of FF. It seems when I install updates, I always have problems after that. In the past, I have reverted to a previous point in history in those situations and the problem has resolved, but since this last FF update was critically important, I don't know if I should try that.
Any thoughts or suggestions? TIA.
Sadly I don't. The same thing happens to me all the time. I keep my Facebook on Firefox because it seems to run better, but not recently. I get that same error message with the script being busy. Sometimes I reboot and it helps but then it goes back to its creepy mode.
I'll be watching for responses. Good luck!

Hi @sunala :-)
Maybe you missed my previous post. I don't blame you if you glossed over it -- it wasn't easy to follow! I would have skipped it too, lol. Here's part of what I said that will hopefully be a solution for you too:
I Deactivated" Shockwave Flash in my FF Plug-in menu. (I never knew it was there and I think it may have been installed with the last FF update.) I watch videos, use Photobucket and play games on my computer. Adobe Flash is enough for that and as far as I know, I have no need for Shockwave Flash.
To deactivate Shockwave, go into your FF menu (on laptop, it is the 3-bar icon on upper right of screen). Click on "Add-ons", click on "Plug-ins". You should see an entry for "Shockwave Flash". On the right, it shows a box with a drop-down menu that says "Always Activate". Click on the arrow and select "Never activate". That will disable Shockwave Flash. HTH!
