Setting it is all done but much more complicated than when I bought one years ago. I did have a question after I had it all set up except that last section. It asked me to make a new Apple ID for the computer. I emailed Apple and gave them my phone number. Within two minutes they were on the line to answer me. You do set up a new ID and log on for use with "just the MacBook Pro". I was not going to set up a new one if it meant signing out of my iPads and redoing them with a new ID. I went to do it and decided to double check so now I feel ok about doing it.
I watched several YouTube videos this morning about set up and hints to do. I wrote lots of the hints down and they helped set it up faster. I checked them off as I did it.
Apple has great service and the lady was very helpful and nice.
Now tomorrow I can sit down and enjoy it. I got the silver one. Now I am looking for a nice wireless Bluetooth mouse and a protective case.

Congratulations! I've never had a MacBook, but I do use an iPad. You really researched how to set it up, probably more than a lot of people would. Now enjoy using it! ![]()

@beach-mom Thanks. I help my friends and family all the time with Window laptop problems but this would have been a bit of a challenge without YouTubes videos. I was just checking them out while I waited it to arrive as I ordered it in December.
Apple makes great products and I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay so much. I have been retired for almost 9 years and decided to do something for myself.
I am sure I will really enjoy it now the set up is done. Anyone that owns one can give me feedback or hints to me if they wish.

I got my new MacBook Pro and set it up. Unfortunately I ended up sending it back. The case was so cold all the time that and I never had a laptop like that. It has a nice case but this was aluminum and it held the cold. I could buy a case for it but I was not satisfied as much I thought I would be after I played with it.
I called Apple and they walked me through resetting it. They emailed me a return label to print with free shipping back. It went to FedEx and it was back and credited back to me within 4 days. No restocking fee if returned within 14 days. That was great service as always from Apple.
I never have returned any of their products as I love all that I have purchased over the years.
Most of what I do I do on my iPads so I decided to just use my Windows laptop for writing letters and my poems on and am ordering the newest iPad instead to upgrade. I will replace my 6th gen with the new iPad and I have a 8th gen also.
Just wanted to reply back. The MacBook Pro was great for someone that could utilize more of the features on this new one than I would.
