Facebook Question about searching for friends

I am looking for find cousins and also friends that I have not made contact with in a very long time.  Here is the problem. If I search and LOOK and the person or persons is not the rigtht one will it trigger some response.  What I mean by this will the WRONG PERSON think I am  invading their listing, or space or whatever it is called.

In other words will the accidental person see that I am looking and then have my name and use it perhaps against  me.  What is innocent on my end ... they might not see it that way.

Re: Facebook Question about searching for friends

no @bonnielu.

the people that you have viewed will not know that you have looked at their photo or profile. the only way they will know is if you friend request them or send them a message.

That's not how FB works.  Looking at a person's FB wall will not trigger a response.  A person only has contact with you, if you leave a post on their wall (if it's public) or you send them a message.  So, the answer to your question is no. FB wants us to search for people and to connect with everyone.

Not sure what  "use it perhaps against me" means.

@bonnielu

You can not know until you try, I got a private message on Friday from the daughter of my parents old friends, she saw my name on a Jewish Heritage page and sent me a private message asking if I was xxx and xx daughter. I use both my maiden and married name on FB

Re: Facebook Question about searching for friends

I was able to locate some old friends and family by looking at the "friends" of other friends and/or family members that would know them.

Find a cousin on another cousin's friend list.  Same with friends.  Some of the female cousins were using other names than the ones I knew them by, but I recognized them by their pictures.

I was asked about "used it against me."  About a year ago I made a comment and someone had hacked my friends account and they kept after us until we both found a way to block them.  I just don't want to find the wrong person and have them haunt me.

Re: Facebook Question about searching for friends

I never liked Face book too intrusive for me. I had over 11000 followers in the first few days I was on there. I set the settings for private and still they came. I was always nervous about having a account there. I never needed to find anyone I put a account up there to get pictures from family members who lived far away, now we email pictures back and forth which I prefer.  I was happy to read that some members here found family members and friends though Face book .. if I needed to find people and friends I would go on a site that finds people there are thousands of sites for that.

The only way you can have 11000 friends is if you accept them. I reject people I don't know all the time. They can get my name from posts I make on certain groups. It's up to me to decide if they can follow me.

I did not accept anyone and by the way there is nothing private anymore just for your information.I choose for no one to follow me that is why I took the account down. And if I were you I would check my account there has been a breach in security 90 million people were asked to log out of there accounts. So I were you I would check your account. Just a heads up!Woman Indifferent
