FYI - TSV Garmin GPS

Got my Garmin nuvi 40LM today. The garmin guy said it already had the latest map but when I plugged it into my computer to register it, it said there was a map update. The unit had 2012.10 but the new map is 2013.10. I wonder why they name the map updates with the next year date? it didn't take several hours to update as the warning said. Less than 30 minutes.
