Mac OS Tahoe is here.  Will try to download and install it later today.

Be aware.

I'm glad I have two Apple computers, desktop and laptop, and I test it out on one before I do them both.

Re: FOR APPLE USERS

[ Edited ]

I have a Mac Air with the M2 chip.  I can offer without equivocation that Tahoe is the worst piece of garbage I've ever used.  I've had more problems using it than any of the previous system upgrades I've had.  It freezes, it gives me garbled pages, it gives me pages and listings that I didn't ask for.  By no stretch of the imagination was it "ready for prime time".  It is just awful.  I'll make it do until they come up with fixes, but be aware.

@Cats3000  That is the worse review of an OS upgrade I've read since Catilina. 837514213.gif

My iMac can no longer be OS upgraded.  However, Apple is still updating Ventura.  yahoo.gif

Remind me again why I NEVER upgraade an OS till version 3 rolls out...

@Mz iMac I've always updated/upgraded early.  I've never had the problems I'm having with Tahoe.  Maybe it's me or my skill sets.  I have no idea.

In theory, Apple OS upgrades should be relatively painless as Apple controls all the hardware in their computers. It's not like in the Windows world, where there are literally billions of possible hardware combinations. Still, despite that, Apple somehow manages to need a few revisions after release to fix things.

Modern operating systems have grown so complex with millions of lines of code that no one person can oversee or even understand everything that goes on.

At most, Apple might have a thousand versions of their computers out there in the real world. Of those, probably a few hundred versions (at most) are "current" and upgradeable. It shouldn't be hard for them to test their OS upgrades on every applicable Apple product.

On the Windows side, forget it. There's no way to test any Windows OS update on every applicable system. So many CPU, motherboard, BIOS, and hardware combinations are possible on the Windows side of things that it would take decades to test a new OS on every possible option.

@Cats3000  Your symptoms sounds like you may have uncompatible 3rd party apps messing w/the upgrade.

Go to the RoaringApps website to check the compatibility of your 3rd party applications.  You may need to update or upgrade a few.

Great,  Just got a brand new MacBook Air in May with Sequoia 15.6.1.  What happens if I don't upgrade? 4 months old??? WOW.
