My Charge 5 just died.  It's 2 years old exactly.  It was never great at syncing with a calorie counter app but I preferred it to the more complicated fitbits.

I tried everything that Fitbit recommends to fix it.  No joy.

What other trackers have you used that you would recommend.

I have a Garmin Vivosmart that I've had for years.  It was one of the few in my price range that could be used when swimming or doing a water aerobics class.  It's still working great, but I may upgrade to the new 5.  I'll see.

@hick Like you I prefer the simple trackers.  Apple Smart watch...I don't want/need it to text or have a mini computer on my wrist. But that's me. Most people I know have those.

So sorry yours gave out and nothing fixed it. I've found that to be true to mine that gave out in the past too...always just wound up buying another.

I've always had FitBits...different generations.

My latest, is the FitBit Charge 5...this has been my favorite so far. I like the sleek look of it, the functions and the bright, bold screen. I like it so much more than the first two I owned. It was a Christmas gift last year, so I'm just into year two...I wear it almost everyday.

FitBit, I will say, has never had a life longer than 2-3 years in my history with it...my last one (I forget what name that was, but it was the little thin ones) barely lasted two years. And yet, not sure what alternative I'd get that'd be better...so I guess I'm interested in what others say here.

If this Charge 5 konks out (and I hope it lasts a few more years!!) At this point, I'd still want another, although, they might have a newer style by then. I wonder why they don't seem to have a long life? I never even checked warranty time, but likely no more than a year.

Fitbit watches are imo A total waste of money.  After a year of fiddling with mine, I never could get it properly set up.  Wasted innumerable hours trying and finally just pitched it into a drawer and deleted the app.

There are now about 500 inexpensive watches on the market that do the same thing and more a lot easier and have a longer lifespan.

I have a Fitbit and it has worked fine for several years.  Not being able to set up a device is more of a statement of the user's skills rather than the device itself.  It was very easy to synch with my iPhone and I can check my progress on my computers. I recommend it.

My charge 3 is still going strong.  No problems.  Will replace it when it dies, but until then, I'm good.
