Dyson floor fan - surge protector or not?

I have a Dyson floor fan.  Would it be a good idea to plug it into a surge protector?  It's so expensive, I'd hate for it to be damaged in an electrical storm.

IMO, anything that's expensive needs a surge protector.

I've been using my Dyson floor fan for a few years now and have always just plugged it directly into the wall outlet.  No issues thus far.....even when we've had power outages.

You bring up a great point that I never thought about. I have two Dyson heat/air fans and have never used a surge protector for them. Thanks for posting.

I don't even trust surge protectors in a lightning storm.

I use surge protectors and still unplug expensive stuff during a storm

My TV, kitchen tabletop appliances, computer, etc.

I don't have a Dyson but it would be on the list too

I even turn off my central a/c

You got that right!! I know first hand...I lost everything electrical that was plugged in when a bolt hit my house. No surge protector would have helped and that was confirmed by an electrician who inspected my house after the strike.

Thanks friends -  I called technical support at Dyson to be sure and was told that the floor fan already has a surge protector built into it....HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE !!

@software.  I agree; I think these strip "surge protectors" that are so common would be pretty much ineffective in the case of a lightening strike or major surge in current.

Alabama Power as well as some of the local contractors recomment a "whole house" surge protector, what you think of one of those?    I need to get rid of my fuse box and have breakers installed, I was going to inquire about it then.

I asked the electrician, who inspected my house after that strike, about a whole house surge protector and he said that would not have mad a difference because it was determined that the lightning came into my house from underground then travelled into the wiring, bypassing the breaker box.  @software
