Downloading Itunes Music - Please Help!!!!

Hi all,

I have several I-tunes gift cards I want to redeem. I went ahead and "redeemed" a card which shows my current balance at the top of the page next to my email address. I would like to start with one card to get the hang of how the whole process works. After selecting the song I wanted to purchase, it asked me if I was sure I wanted to purchase the selection. After agreeing, it then asked for my billing information. This is where I am confused????? Why would it ask for my billing information and credit card number when I ONLY want to use the gift card to redeem all music? Do I have to select something else before purchasing the music? Has anyone experienced this problem before? I am hoping it is something simple that I am overlooking. Thanks in advance for your help!
