@haddon9 I agree 100 percent!  I bought a MacBook Air in 2011 and haven't used a mouse with a laptop since.  I can't imagine using one with a laptop.

The mouse came before the keypad, and then I used the keypad exclusively for a couple years.

I still use the mouse ... it depends where I'm sitting.

I suggest you be proficient in both.

The cats know that my desks and computers are off limits, just like the counters, so they stay away from my computers, even in the camper and in the living room.

I have a MacBook Air and thought I would need a mouse, but I quickly learned I did not need it...just practice a bit using the trac pad....I bet in no time you will ditch the mouse.

No mouse.  I got my first laptop in '09 and never used a mouse with it or my current Macbook that I've had for almost 2 years.  

I don't let my cat near my laptop when it's open. He'll lay down behind it.  He'll lay halfway on it when it's closed.
