Amazon has just announced it will be killing support for Alexa Guard. I have it enabled but frankly, forget about it. There will be a few features that are impacted by this dropped feature. However, you can get similar features if you PAY for them :/ It wouldn't surprise me to see Google follow suite. Wait, come to think of it, they HAVE removed some features
On another note, has anyone here used Alexa's "whisper" mode? You have to enable it first. I hoped Google would feature a whisper mode but they haven't. If you whisper a question or command, Alexa will whisper her reply.

I have had Alexa for many years and I have no clue what the Alexa Guard even is. Please explain more. Thanks

I have never heard of Alexa Guard so I don't use it.
We use Alexa to play music. Main reason I bought it was to use with our Nest thermostat so I could control it from bed. It's cold in the morning so want to turn the heat on before I crawl out of bed. In the summer when I get hot I can turn on the AC.

If you look in the settings in your Alexa app on your phone, you should see (unless it's been removed with a recent update) Alexa Guard. Hold on, I"ll look...well, looks like it's already been removed. I never open the app since my main AI is Google. I did a Google search for Alexa Guard. You can read about the transition by Googling this topic.

Do you not use your Alexa to add to your shopping list? No matter where I am or what I'm doing, if I think of something to put on the list, I just say, Hey Google, add coffee to my shopping list. When I get to the grocery store, all my items are listed. Some make multiple lists for different types of shopping. Yes, changing the thermostat from the comfort of your bed, especially when it's cold, is great. If you're on a schedule, you can set it to come on at predefined times and days. I have mine set to change temps when DH leaves for work. Or I'll turn it on from our car when we're on our way home after being gone for several hours.

I am not following if you are using Alexa why do you say hey Google arent the two different things?

Yes, they are two different species
I have ONE Alexa...ok, actually 3. I keep updating as new versions come out but I only have one in use. I want to have at least one AI in case the other brand goes down temporarily. I think it's only happened once since I've been using them. I have 13 Google Nest devices that range from the hockey puck looking device to the 3 of the 10" screens, a couple of 7" screens and the rest are pucks. Two pucks outside. Can't imagine life without them now.
and one of this style (in the blue)
