A few years back I bought a HP laptop from the Q. It came with Norton security software. The software was FREE. So I just left it there and when it expired so I thought I put on AVG free and spybot from CNET. I got a bill for $121 from Norton to renew. I called cancelled. I thought it was ALL OVER.
Yesterday I caught an automatic renewal on my credit card for $ 79 for Norton. I called, I was put on a conference call and I was told I HAD RENEWED IT WHEN I MADE MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE. Yeah right!
I am not sure what happened. My card is safe, not compromised in any other way BUT IT SEEMS THE ORGINAL PURCHASE of free came with a lifetime bit of fun and games for the manufacturer of Norton or not.
I am wondering if anyone has had this happen or can explain what might have happened to me.
