I recently purchased a Dell Laptop, from the Today's Special Value on QVC and the "extra" software package that was an "extra" charge and value. Well, it certainly was a value.....but a BAD value. Upon taking the computer out of the box, it would not work properly. The windows updates would never update, causing the computer to circle and circle endlessely (it would take almost 2 hours before it would return to the start screen). Finally, calling Dell directly, meant a 2 1/2 hour phone call at which time they could not repair the issue. (and an additional 2 hours before I could get the computer to start up). I was told that any further help would be referred to their "advance" team, at a charge to me - the problem with my NEW computer was not covered by the initial warranty. Upon further investigation, I was told by Dell directly that this computer, just purchased from QVC was not longer manufactured, that it was in fact released 2 years ago!! Today's special value that was already 2 years old!!! Another 6 hours to completely restore the computer to original factory settings in order to safely return to QVC.
The software package was filled with components that were "trial" only and I would have to pay for them if I wanted them.....in the meantime, they were loaded into the computer and left to fill up the hard drive with junk. The "life long" McAfee had a end date of Jan 25, 2015. I guess McAfee was aware before I was that I would be returning this product!
The laplync transfer system worked horribly and the customer service person was completely ignorant. The transfer stopped working after 26 hours (it said it would take 36 hours to transfer!!). When I called, I was informed how to hook up with a cable, and was assured that the items had been installed up to that point would not be duplicated. What I ended up with, after 40 hours, was duplications of at least 60% of the items from the original computer.
I am returning all items to QVC and just hope that I will be refunded my ENTIRE purchase cost (including the return fees that QVC says will be deducted from my account.)
I would advise ALL to be aware when purchasing any electronic devices from QVC - I know I will!

This seems to happen to a lot of people with QVC's computers. I'm sorry it happened to you. I think you need to call QVC for a return postage paid slip when returning something that's defective.

I agree - send it back and don't purchase a computer from a shopping channel. You never get a great deal and it's usually older technology.
Not only that, but I can't help but feel concerned about how they have to crank out tens of thousands of computers in quick order, for a daily special. It just stands to reason that there will be some shortcuts and misses, in the quality department.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. In September I fell "victim" to QVC's spiel about a Dell Laptop - they said it had the "latest technology Dell has". That turned out to be an Intel Celeron Processor, and when I realized that, I thought boy, Dell must be in really bad shape!
Long story short, I tried to cancel it, QVC said they had to get Corporate to cancel it, and after 3 days, it shipped anyway. I refused it when the UPS man brought it. When I told CS that, they said I shouldn't have refused it because it would go directly back to Dell. They apparently wanted me to accept it, take out the paperwork, fill out why I didn't want it, and lug it to the post office. She didn't know how long it would take to process my credit (BTW, instead of charging me the first of 4 easy pays, they charged my credit card the full amount!). After I told her what I really thought about the whole situation and the fact that I would probably never buy anything from QVC again plus tell anyone I knew to never buy from them again, they miraculously refunded my credit card the NEXT day!
I got some good advice here about a laptop, and we ended up with a terrific deal on a Toshiba at Best Buy.

I do understand what Joseph William is saying. I guess I was just taken by surprise, but now I am a better educated consumer!! I did end up contacting and purchasing a newer laptop with an updated processor for the same amount of money. And yes, by tomorrow it too will be old!!!

I understand as well, however, if what he says is true, the Q needs to start telling the truth in their presentations. I saw and heard Rick Domier with my own eyes and ears say "this is the latest technology Dell has" regarding the computer I mentioned with the Intel Celeron Processor (in Sept. 2014), and they also said over and over that the computers weren't even made yet. The TSV was on a Saturday I think, and they said the computers would start being made on Monday. I tried to cancel it late Saturday night, but it shipped out on Wednesday. They would've had to make a lot of computers in two days. Does any of that even make sense? Never again. ![]()

I'm aware that QVC sells tons of junk - but to send a 2-year old computer (and one that doesn't work) is shameful. NEVER buy anything expensive or electronic from the Q. It's so easy to buy from Costco.com and know that u can return the item at any time (and it won't be "old"). Just remember that the hosts are "hawkers" and "salespeople". Most of the time, they have no idea what they're selling. You can also shop at one of ur local Big Box Stores.

I bought the Dell TSV and I'm very happy with it. I got it going myself with only a few calls to service people - got a new wireless printer which I was able to get going just fine. I did buy a windows 8.1 for dummies book - but haven't really looked at it much.
sorry for everyone's problems. never fun-

I understand that this is common with the electronics on QVC and one of the reasons the prices are so competitive. A lot of research needs to be done regarding their electronics, primarily, when they were first introduced into the market.
I'm so sorry this happened to you, it shouldn't have....
