I would never ever buy a computer from Q or any other shopping channel. Q is known for offering outdated models. In the future, I encourage potential buyers to google the model, drive, etc, to see just how current it is. I have yet to find a current model on Q.
That said, I bought Dells from Dell for many years and never had a problem. But I'd always go direct to Dell for them.
I currently use an Apple Mac and love it!

I am in the same situation. I cancelled it within one hour and it is still coming I am told. I will just take it back to the post office. I made a mistake. I thought it was what I wanted but obviously not. Oh well. Lots of extra time and fun in the next few weeks.

It's so easy to buy from Costco.com and know that u can return the item at any time (and it won't be "old"). Just remember that the hosts are "hawkers" and "salespeople". Most of the time, they have no idea what they're selling. You can also shop at one of ur local Big Box Stores.
Well, I don't think the actual computers are two years old, but the components used and the technology used is old. These manufacturers probably have warehouses full of older components, ,hard drives, etc, that is of technology that became obsolete years ago. The Celeron processor is a lot older than even two years. I think my last Celeron computer was at least 6 or 7 years ago. It's going to be too slow and ineffective for today's technology.
They probably get a great deal purchasing units that are comprised of this older technology and older parts.
Unfortunately, they don't seem to feel a responsibility to be up front and honest about that because probably a lot of the folks who purchase these have not done their own research and/or are computer newbies. They believe the stuff they are told and, as we all know, it behooves us to do our own figuring out.

Hello Diane RDH,
We have a Dell desktop that is probably over 6 years old, and even though it an older version, I am very please-VERY PLEASED. However, we did by a Notebook tablet for travel, then decided to buy a 'HP' LAPTOP-8.1. for the other floor, having separte time for each of us.
I, along with my husband (quite savvy in electonics) spent unneccesary time to have [IT] transfer to another website...kept boucing back and forth to Amaz.com. Think 8 hours!
I have no use for any pricey `T.V. shopping channel` {whatevers} for computers, especially a LAPTOP.
We learned a valuable lesson.........I have ALWAYS bought local and never had any problems, also I know that the geek sqaud will come and set it up for the transfer. If there is problem and we have had only one -that being a computer activation clean out.
So the moral of this story is FOR US: buy local and pay just about the same price and KNOW that {IT} is the newer version, along with having someone come out to educate the buyer everything one sholuld know in getting started.
We are waiting for the more advanced version, not the 8.1, which should be available by spring. Any problems
, then that computer geek will make another journey out our way.
I truly understood your post. You are definitely not alone. I have hear of more complaints from 'those whom had purchased all of the bells and whistles.......no exception to cost, did not change. I am not a mass produced anything buyer, especially in electonics.
BUT, there may have been a great majority who had NO problems. Great For Them~ I am sorry that you have experienced this frustration...also to the other posters, as well.
To the other poster(s) buying a Laptop that was already 2 years old, you have more patience than I would tolerate, after knowing this!

On 1/14/2015 WIlliam Joseph said: OP. I come off as mean on this board, and I don't meant to be nor do I want to be portrayed that way. Anyways, if this computer was indeed TWO YEARS OLD, of course updating windows is going to take forever. That would be 2 years of updates. There have been HUGE updates in the span of 2 years. GIGABYTES worth. That takes time. Machines are shipped with Operating Systems that are considered GOLD at that time. If they were to arrive completely updated, machines would be pulled from shelves every few weeks. Two years means nothing. These deals between QVC and vendors take months and years to put together. They just don't call up dell the day before and are like hey gimme 50k machines by next friday. Doesn't work that way. You want the latest and best? Go to amazon or a big box store. Just remember this though, latest and best today is obsolete tomorrow. Just the way it is.Finally a post from you that is well mannered and not mean spirited. Please continue to post with us this way. I 2nd everything you said here. All true.

There have been warnings about buying electronics from QVC since I've been posting. Most people don't come here first or they have to have EZ pay and will buy from QVC despite the warnings. While I may comment in the future, I know it doesn't do any good.
If the average posters here are like my friends and neighbors, they don't know enough to compare computers. When you start talking hardware and other specs, their eyes glaze over and you lose them. What people need to do is find a trusted friend or message board to help with a purchase.
Most computers have hardware components adequate for light to medium users. I'm willing to bet a lot of money people won't be able to tell the difference in performance between AMD and Intel with comparable processors. Now, there is a huge difference between a good processor and a bargain one like a Celeron. As long as you stay away from very cheap computers, you should be OK.
