My 14 year old Sony DVD player finally petered out. Can anyone recommend a brand or model of BluRay player?

You should check reviews at Best Buy.

Get a smart Blu-ray player. It plays DVDs and streams from the internet.

We have 3 Samsung blu-ray DVD players, one of which is 3D model. Have had many over the decades and I think Samsung are the best and I will continue to buy their models.

Am going to possibly be buying one of their 4k tv sets and also upgrade to a 4k blu-ray if the make them now. Their 4k sets are said to upgrade to "near 4k" resolution all viewing content hat is between 750-1080p.

Samsung is what I suggest and their price is as good or better than the others. As with any electronic one has to shop for price. I always start with amazon for my electronic purchases and move on from there. I have amazon prime and it is great

Thanks, I was in a hurry and grabbed a cheapie DVD player by Phillips. I have a smart TV and frankly, liked it better when my TV was dumb (lol). Since all of my media is DVD and not BluRay, I've bought myself some time to research in depth.

Thanks again for the responses.

Blu-ray makes all DVDs look better.

I have a Samsung Blue Ray that streams over the Internet. I cut my Dish Bill in half and I stream movies and shows from Netflix. It was a good thing to do as it paid for itself. Today, I watched 2 of the Joan Rivers Movies they had on there and I don't have to leave the house for a DVD.
