Considering a refurbished MAC 17inch laptop - why no numeric keypad?

Actually it seems that all of the Apple laptops do not have a numeric keypad and I'm so intrigued by this. I currently have an HP 17 inch laptop and use the numeric keypad frequently. Is there any answer as to why Apple does not include this?

I am aware that Apple no longer makes a 17 inch laptop and I am anticipating that the refurbished inventory will be gone soon. Another question for MAC lovers: will you miss the 17 inch choice?
