Is the computer a good value that they currently list.  Thanks for any assistance. Would be replacing house computer for windows 11 - currently have desktop 10.  Is the change necessary now?

@toril,  is the reason for the change just because support for Windows 10 will end next year or do you really need to update/upgrade your computer?

If you are happy with your current computer and are using Windows 10 you should have a message on your Windows update page advising whether your computer is compatible for upgrading to Windows 11.  If it is compatible then all you need to do is authorize the upgrade and Windows 11 will be installed.

ETA:  In regard to the computers being offered there are some that are good (and oh so tempting) but I strongly advise staying away from any being offered with only 4GB of RAM.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

I agree with what @Marp stated.  Also, look at this brands website.  They have some laptops that are under $500.

@toril QVC tends to sell outdated electronics at ridiculously high prices with useless, cheap extras to justify the prices.  I think your best bet is to go directly to the manufacturer's website.

I would check out Best Buy, Amazon etc. QVC sells yesterdays technology today with lots of useless add ons that you don't need.

The HP TSV has the Ryzen 5 processor. It was released in 2023. FYI.

Why is that date important? There have been two more Ryzen processors released since then, 7 and 9.  Each one more efficient and more secure than previous versions. It's best to purchase the lastest versions for added security, speed and new features.

Marp- this computer was upgraded to 10 so not sure it will work for 11.  Thank you all so much for the information.  I love this computer and use it mostly for medical and home ordering of supplies and communication.  This information helps greatly.  I may be back with more questions later.

The Ryzen 5 is not totally outdated as of yet. For most people who need a computer for everyday tasks, not heavy gaming, a Ryzen 5 device should fit the bill.
