Channel flipping on YouTube TV

I am an inveterate channel flipper that is giving serious consideration to switching from Dish to YouTube TV.

If I make the change is it feasible to flip or will I have to deprogram myself while training my brain to focus on one channel at a time?

Get a free trial of YTTV and try it for yourself. There are fabulous beginning YTTV tutorials on YouTube. I like the one by Michael Saves. We switched from DISH and like YTTV so much better.

I switched from Direct TV to YouTubeTV almost 5 years ago and have never looked back.  I have more choices than I could watch in a lifetime.

Channel flipping on YouTube TV can be pretty easy once you get the hang of it. On my Fire TV, I hit the back arrow and then go to the top where it says "Live" and scroll down to see what's on. Find something interesting and just click on it and there you are.

It's pretty neat too in that you can hit pause and walk away from whatever you're watching and come back and pick up right where you left off.

I can do the same thing with my Comcast remote.

@Marp Your post made laugh as DH is a chronic channel flipper!!   We cut the cord with our cable company last winter and like @Kachina624 said we have never looked back.  Saving a ton of $$ and we love it.  There are so many channels to choose from and it's working out well for us.  As far as the "flipping" thing I am really trying to break my husband's habit as it drives me nuts.  But like another poster stated when you get used to it, as there was a slight learning curve, for us anyway,  you will be able to carry on like old times sadly Smiley Sad

LOL!

I think I need to put a but in Google's ear to develop a YouTube TV specific remote with, most importantly, a recall button, as well as a pause button.

We dropped Xfinity cable for YouTube and love it and the $ saved.  But flipping around is not as quick as my old "back" button with cable.  But it shouldn't stop you, it's well worth it.

Re: Channel flipping on YouTube TV

Thank y'all for the replies and advice.  I did sign up for the free trial.  There are only two channels that I regularly watch that are not available but neither are a big deal.

I will admit to finding the learning curve a bit frustrating.  I'll keep trying to get personalization set up and see how it goes.

Again, thank you,

Re: Channel flipping on YouTube TV

YouTube TV gets pretty smart with what you watch. A push on the down arrow on my Fire TV remote brings up the last channel I'd watched to make it easy to flash back and forth between two channels. The channels I watch most frequently tend to show up the most using the down arrow thing.
