Thanks for that tidbit @gardenman. Right now I have Roku attached so I'll see if it works with that remote. If not I'll change out the Roku for the Fire Stick.

I don't have any streaming subscriptions. How do you record scheduled programming with any streaming subscription? Seems that would be a total inconvenience and a drastic change from traditional dvr methods with cable or satellite. What about TV guides with streaming? My Directv guide is terrific and I can find anything quickly using my remote.

I am so feeling like I think my mother used to feel when we tried to introduce new technology to her. I hope I showed her empathy for not understanding much, lol.
So I got a smart tv a few months ago and I just love my YouTube app...so much to arch. Can someone explain the difference between using my smart tv app and buying a YouTube subscription?

@SilleeMee Not sure if all streaming services or smart tvs work the same.
I have YouTube TV, FireTV as well as a (Amazon) FireTV stick & Amazon DOT devices. So my answers are based on my setup......
"How do you record scheduled programming with any streaming subscription? "
There are several ways......
1 - I tell DOT to add xxxx to Library if I am in another room. If in the same room, I talk through my tv remote or (Amazon)FireTV stck remote to add xxxx to library.
2 - I go to the xxxx on my tv guide, click on it & select "Add to Library."
3 - I can do #2 on my computer as you can bring up YTTV guide.
4 - If program is not listed in guide, you can use YTTV search feature on the tv or computer to bring up the program so you can "Add to Library."
"What about TV guides with streaming? My Directv guide is terrific and I can find anything quickly using my remote. "
Same here & also my Amazon DOT devices.
Most times, I do not need the TV guides. I just tell remote or DOT to "play" xxxx.
For movies or shows I have in my Library, I tell the remote or DOT to "open" Library & play xxxx.
"Never argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

One of the things I'm missing most when on YouTube TV being able to enter a number to go to a specific channel.
While I've pretty much gotten the guide set up the way I want it I really dislike having to scroll to reach a channel. Would be so much easier and much more to my liking if I could assign numbers to the top channels.

For anyone with questions about YTTV and how to use it, this YT video is extremely helpful and pretty well explains everything. Can't post links, so here is a screen shot of the video so you can search for the title of it.
