Carrier Update on iPad - OK to do?

I am getting this popup.  Internet says carrier info should be updated, but has anyone done it?  What happens when you update?

I am nervous about doing this.

I would NOT click on any link included in that pop-up.

I would go directly to the website of my carrier and contact them thru whatever method they give on their website.

Do NOT ever give finanical or personal info to a pop-up.

Re: Carrier Update on iPad - OK to do?

I just kept saying no and eventually it asked if it shouldn't ask again, so of course I said yes, and that was it. It told me where in settings I could turn it off, but I've been so busy I don't remember where it was.

This apparently is something new in the latest update. Never seen it before and I've had an iPad from day 1.

@ Montana  You might want to google and read up on this issue from Apple. I just looked briefly and I guess the updates are recommended to be done eventually. Don't take my word for it, lol, I just skimmed the info. I'm going to look it up again later. I'm still doing 10 things at once.

Since the last update every time I get on my iPad it wants me to update password in settings. The box jiggles & says incorrect password. It's not incorrect. I know what my password is. I don't know how I'm going to fix that.

Since it won't let me use my password I changed it & it still says incorrect password???????????

Do you have the option to add the two step verification after your update?

@glb613This is exactly what the box says:

                Carrier Settings Update

New settings are available.  Would you like to

                update now?

                Not Now            Update

Can't tell what will happen if I click Update.

A carrier update is perfectly ok to download.

The carrier update message is an official Apple message issued when your cell carrier updates files to improve services to your cellular enabled iPad or iPhone.

For more information on this update, refer to this support document from Apple:

@Cha1k@ Montana, et al, thanks for this.  I just got the same msg on my iPhone 6+.  I'll click ok next time.  You guys are so great to post these things.  I appreciate it.  LM
