Hi,

I need a new headlight for an old model car from the late 1990's. Have any of you ordered car parts or accessories on line?

The headlight costs significantly more through the dealer than from some of the sites on-line, but I don't know if these sites are trustworthy. www.partsgeek.com for example.

Your experience with ordering car parts on-line? I'll be back later to check for responses. Thanks.

Only place online we have ordered car parts from is http://www.rockauto.com/. Had to buy the replacement part for one electric window. It was just a plastic piece & was at a low price. It was a dealership item & they don't sell just the one piece they wanted us to buy the whole kit for $100 or so. Also bought some taillights on EBay for an older car. It was the only place we could find them. Have also bought from JC Whitney.

I just pick up replacement headlights at Wheelworks or Autozone or Kragen.

To change the headlight on my older car, I need a hex wrench. You can pick those up at the above places, too, or the local hardware store.

You'll need to check the wiring, to make sure there isn't a short or anything. I went through a couple of headlights before I figured it out.

I wouldn't bother buying headlights at a wrecking yard.
