Cancel cable and my cell phone

This is probably an ignorant question but here goes....IF we cancel our Spectrum internet and cable TV and we have our cell phones thru Spectrum and are not changing cell phone providers.. can we still use our cell phones, but would just have to put the new FRONTIER password into our phones correct?

There is a WIFI charge on our bill each month, possibly I am misunerstanding what that charge is.

Frontier does not offer cell phone service.

This is such a trying experience...there are several programs that my husband refuses to give up, and they are only offered on SPECTRUM cable, not on any other streaming service...but he continues to gripe about the bill....I am quickly losing patience over the whole thing.

@Mom2Dogs @  I'm interested in know what programs your husband watches that only spectrum carries

May be my own ignorance but I've not heard of getting cell phones through a cable company. House/landline phone yes, but actual cell/mobile?

Re: Cancel cable and my cell phone

@LizzieInSRQ    He likes the ME TV channel...carries older shows,  as well as he wants to see the Guardians play baseball.....we can get the Guardians thru their paid streaming service, which we are trying to avoid.

You are correct about the cell phone but there is a WI-FI charge on our cable bill, I was wondering if that was for our phones to connect to the internet....OR if that is because we have our landline with our cable company,  If we drop SPECTRUM I am going to have my cell phone number changed to our home phone number, which I can do as I have called SPECTRUM and they can do that.

I can call SPECTRUM and ask what the WI-FI charge is for but calling them and getting on line with someone takes time, which I can do with I have time.

Not sure if I understand. Is your internet network service in your home provided by Frontier or Spectrum?

If you have Frontier providing your internet, your cell phones will connect to your internet nework  while at home as they probably already do if you have Frontier providing internet services. while in your home and not use cell data while you are home. . They use cell data when not connected to an internet network when out and about.

If you have "landlines" via Spectum, yes those would cease if you cancel Spectrum services. Just like those are useless when cable goes out. They are cable based. ( as far as I know as I don't have those or conventional telephone land lines for almost 15 years.) I had it bundled once when I had Comcast but never ever used the cable phone so I canceled it.

I looked up Guarfians Basebale and you might try Sling.

For MeTv check out Frndly TV app Cost 6.99 to 10.99 a month. I'm not Sure what kind of TV you have but it seems to ve able to be loaded on many kinds of smart tvs. It's also available on Philo. Also over the air antenna which has come a long way and is "rabbit ears" anymore but a very sleek, easy to install appliance. Others here can tell you about,

Re: Cancel cable and my cell phone

I really do not understand your question, but i feel your pain with cable.  We quit Xfinity cable in January.  Got rid of landline and cable, but did keep wi-fi only.  To replace cable, we went to Hulu Plus and love it.  My husband gets the channels he likes, all local channels, and I got TCM back !  I think a total of 80 + channels but none of those pesky fees.  For our phone, we just have Tracfones.

@Suzy Q from PA  The biggest issue is my husband, he complains about the cost but right now is not willing to give up a few channels.  I am going to stop looking for different plans until he make a decision and sticks with  it.

Re: Cancel cable and my cell phone

I also have Spectrum only for internet service, there is a extra charge that says WiFI,  We pay 79.99 a month wirh a 20.00 discount.  The normal charge is 99.99 a month,  This is only for internet service.  We have UTube TV for TV channels and much cheaper than Spectrum TV.  The phone service is a separate part of your bill and you may be getting a discount for the cell phone if you have internet service, but why cancel cell phone if you may be getting a good price?  My son had Spectrum cell phone and internet and only paid 30.00 mo for phone and 99 for internet,  The phone was discounted if you keep internet.  They have different promotions and we usually hasel with them every 12 months for a discouont of some sort,  They don"t wamt to lose customers.  Sometines a phone call pays off,

Re: Cancel cable and my cell phone

@annie-g we are not cancelling our cell phones with Spectrum, it is a good price for our usage, and I did check to make sure that price would not increase if we dropped their internet and cable.

The phone I mentioned was our landline which is $25.00 month with Spectrum...I will have our home phone number as my cell phone number, Spectrum told me they could. switch out my current number for our current home phone number.

My original question was about the WI-FI charge on our Spectrum bill, I was not sure what that line item was for.

Frontier has come to our area so the plan is to switch to that provider for internet...then search for programming...like I mentioned my husband is the sticking point, there are a few channels he does not want to give up.  UTube TV is an option but he does not love the selection.  If it was just my decision, I would have switched a long time ago.

Don't forget there are TV apps that can be downloaded to smart tvs that are free like Tubi and Plex or if you have Amazon Prime they have tons of TV programming that come with your Prime subscription you can download

I probably get over 1000 channels  between YouTubeTv, Netflix and Peacock that I pay for plus QVC+HSN+, PLEX, Tubi and Amazon alone

All total including 1G internet and no equipment rentals anymore ( Xfinity is a racket) I pay about 168 or so a month. I could download more free but I can't watch everything I have as it is.

My tvs are all over 12 years old and they are connected to my Frontier internet by Amazon Firesticks, a one-time  purchase of about $25 each.

Sooooo glad to be rid of Xfinity and cable. It's a an expensive dinosaur with limited access and often their channel lineup is limited like when they moved TMC to their sports teir. Screw them.
