Can't Get Into Forum w/iPad Mini

I love my iPad Mini w/Retina, but lately not so much! It seems to be crashing a lot and I'm thinking Google Chrome might be the problem. I can access the QVC website just fine, but can't get into the blogs or forums at all now. Anyone have this problem and have a possible solution? Thanks.

Re: Can't Get Into Forum w/iPad Mini

QVC's website, and particularly the forums, have been having problems lately. I don't know if they're 'updating' or doing maintenance or just having problems. The other day I couldn't log in to any part of the site any way I tried. I checked Q's Facebook page and they said their IT department was working on it. For a few days before that I could get into the Forums some times, but not other times. And various other glitches at other times.

If this is a problem you've just developed in that last couple of days, it might not be your problem. If it's something you've had for a long time, perhaps it is on your end.

Don't know if that helps you or not!

Absolutely. No problem getting in with Safari.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Can't Get Into Forum w/iPad Mini

I have both Chrome and Safari on my iPad 4 and choose to use Safari every time unless I need Chrome for specific google things (like Google Drive, work email in Google domain, Google sites for work, etc.)

Safari is awesome. You may not even realize it is a browser if you came from the PC world and always used Chrome, IE or Firefox. Give Safari a try Smiley Wink

BTW, there is a Reader mode available in Safari for many sites. Look for the little icon in the left of the address bar at the top of the Safari window that looks like lined paper. If you tap it you can more easily read the main story on that page in bigger text and without all the distracting ads and extras. Just tap it again to go back to the regular view. I love that feature!!

I use safari. Google and apple don't get along. Plus google chrome is a battery and memory hog. The poster above who posted about the tech problems Q was having is correct. Something was wromg with the site the other day, and a few days leading up to it. Couldn't get on with safari. Seems to be fixed now. Haven't had a problem in 2 days.

Great post, Lynnj, as usual!

The website had serious problems beginning about 8/19/14 and only now seem to be cleared up.

I wanted to add: if the device is crashing, you can see the reports by going to Settings--->General--->About--->Diagnostics & Usage--->Diagnostics & Usage Data.

Often you'll see a memory problem. It can help to clear cookies and website data on all browsers you use on the device and turn off the apps open in the background. I've noticed those 2 steps help when I use Safari on my iPad to access the full desktop version of Facebook (it has a propensity to crash, especially after one of their website "updates").
