C6 Fix of operating system

Question, my Laptop needs the operating system restored to correct issues. I just ordered this C6 from QVC today.

Can I use my brand new C6 to fix the OS on my laptop or do I need to restore the OS to my laptop from the CD's that I made when I originally bought it a year ago?
