You're lucky to have a family-run TV store where you are. There were several here long ago but none now. It's all big-box stores, pawn shops or online. Miss those days of listening to the sales people pitch their best about the latest electronic item. Never thought I say that before.

I've used, and consistently recommended, "B&H Photo Video" for years to purchase printers, tvs, parts, supplies, and other items. (Their name is a wee bit misleading, since they offer an enormous range of products.)
I've spoken on the phone with their representatives numerous times and found them to be knowledgeable, accurate, professional, friendly, and helpful.
They don't "push" products or pressure the caller to buy, and the last time I checked they don't receive a commission for the help and advice.
I watch the site for competitive prices and have been extremely pleased with my online purchases, the prices, the packaging and shipping. Mine isn't the only "rave review" for their company... they're a favorite of many consumers and based on my experience there's a very good reason for that.
Happy shopping, everyone!😊

Did the delivery people unbox & place the tv where you wanted to?

@SilleeMee For me personally, I want to go into a b&m store to check out the "color" of the tv I am interested in buying. I find that some models have better color than others.
I personally stick w/Toshiba tvs. Their color is just amazing!
@Mz iMac @You can choose this as an option and you can also choose installallation and set up as well as Wall mounting. I did not need to have the TV placed. These new TVs,has large as they are are not heavy, just ungainly, My TV was large, but it easily slid from my front door into my family room over my tile floors. I unboxed it with my husband. For the largest Sonys, all you do is cut some ties they use and lift the box. The box slides upward exposing the wrapped TV that is settling on a special stand made from the bottom of the box.

If you are considering buying a TV, I highly recommend he YouTube videos put out by rtings. These guys are TV engineers and they explain EVERYTHING about any models you are considering. Their website is fantastic. They compare features of TVs by model. They explain everything so well I felt like an expert after reading everything on their website. They will tell you which models are best and why as well as how to determine the TV dimensions for your room size and furniture arrangement. You will get the complete low down on color and picture quality for any model they have examined.

Just don't get too hung up on getting "the best." For most people, for most viewing experiences, you will be more involved in what's happening on the screen than how it looks on the screen. "This TV has the best black levels." Uh, great. Does that matter with how I watch TV? Probably not. If something doesn't affect your enjoyment of what you're watching on the TV, then you don't really need to worry about it.
It's easy to get caught up in wanting the best blacks, most accurate colors, highest refresh rate, etc., but does it matter with how you watch TV? Probably not. Unless a TV is absolutely horrible, its picture becomes your normal picture and it's fine. In the vast majority of cases, you'll be more focused on what's happening on the screen, rather than how it looks on the screen. If you find yourself focusing on how something looks on the screen, it's time to change channels as what you're watching clearly isn't keeping you interested.
When the "next-gen" video game consoles came out a few years ago, enthusiasts were amazed that they could count every hair on the arm of a character. Uh, okay. If I'm spending time counting the hairs on the arm of a character, it's a bad video game and I should be playing something else. Technical achievements for the sake of numbers are great, but if they don't affect your enjoyment of what you're watching, do they matter? No.
There's always something better coming along. QLED, OLED, Micro-LED, etc., offering incremental improvements, often at an absurd cost, but more often than not, you're just buying bragging rights as in normal viewing you'll be more interested in what's happening on the screen rather than how it looks on the screen. If you're watching a movie and in the climactic scene you're saying, "I just wish that blackness was blacker," it's not a climactic scene. The movie has lost you. If the movie has you enthralled, you won't notice or care about the level of blackness.

@gardenman Tvs "back in da day" for me the "color" was always off on peoples faces. The facial coloring was either yellowish or orange. ![]()
Whenever I got a new tv home, the first thing I did was check out the face color on a "news" channel. For me it was MSNBC and/or my local news because you had a better chance of getting "close ups."
These "current" tvs, it's rare that you have to adjust the color or "scan" for channels.
