Blinks on blinks off

I got the TSV LCD/LED Sony Bravia just before Christmas (not 3D)-- sometimes if I turn it on, the picture comes on, then it turns black then the picture comes back and it continues doing that until I turn it off and then back on. I also have a DVR from Time/Warner. I can't figure out if the problem is with the tv or with the cable box. Has anyone else had this problem and what is causing it?
