Big deal TracPhone this summer….

Late this summer I bought the MOTO g play phone for my husband (I think it was either the big deal or TSV).

Teaching him to use it has been difficult but one constant issue is when he wants to answer the phone.  When he taps the ANSWER button it does not work....I can answer his phone but he cannot.

We think it is his fingertips...he also has trouble being fingerprinted. He able to use the other features on the phone as far as swiping, etc.

I have looked all thru the settings and possibly I am missing it but is there not a way to answer just by picking up the phone when it rings?

If anyone purchased this phone feed back would be appreciated.  I will probably have to call the company but thought I would ask first.

Try googling "how to answer Moto phone without pressing button" - lots of options in settings.  But not just picking it up unfortunately.

Re: Big deal TracPhone this summer….

@Mom2Dogs,  I used AI Assist to ask "how to answerMoto G play without buttons".  The response was:

To answer aMoto G Play without using the buttons, you can enable the "Lift to Wake" feature in the settings, which allows you to answer calls by simply lifting the phone. Additionally, you can use voice commands ifGoogle Assistant is set up.

Another answer:

Answering Calls on Moto G Play Without Buttons

If yourMoto G Play is not responding to button presses, you can still answer calls using the following methods:

Using the Touchscreen

  • Swipe to Answer: When a call comes in, you can swipe the green phone icon to the right on the screen to answer the call.

  • Tap to Answer: If your phone is unlocked, simply tap the green phone icon that appears on the incoming call screen.

Using Voice Commands

  • Google Assistant: If you haveGoogle Assistant enabled, you can say "HeyGoogle, answer the call" when a call comes in. Make sure your voice activation settings are configured.

Adjusting Settings

  • Accessibility Features: Check if you have any accessibility features enabled that might allow you to answer calls without using physical buttons. Features like "Voice Access" can help you control your phone with voice commands.

Troubleshooting

  • Screen Issues: If the touchscreen is unresponsive, try restarting your phone. If the problem persists, consider seeking professional repair services.

These methods should help you manage calls on your Moto G Play even if the physical buttons are not functioning.

There were also several search returns explain how to answer without using the buttons.  This one offered several options for answering: citizenside.com/technology/answering-calls-on-moto-g-quick-steps/

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

@Marp   Thanks, I did see the 'lift to wake'. I assumed which I guess I should not do...is that it meant to wake up the phone, not answer a call.  I will try that.  again, thanks

Answering the phone has nothing to do with fingerprints.  Waking the phone up or signing in does.  He probably isn't pressing firmly enough or is not on the answer "button".

@mrshckynut   When his phone rings there is the word 'answer' I think he taps it.....and that is how he answers it when he can.

@gadgetgal613   I am pretty sure he is properly trying to answer but often times he is not able to connect before the phone goes to voicemail mail...it is like that 'button' is not working properly.  I was busy yesterday but today I am going to try to do the 'lift to wake' mode.  thanks

Why don't you stand or sit next to him where you can see his phone and call him.  Watch how he tries to answer the phone and you should be able to see what he is doing wrong.
