I bought this model with a different plan last month on HSN.  Since my current Tracfone plan ends on 5/29, I haven't taken it out of the box yet.  lol

HSN just had the Samsung A16 as their TS for $129. Came with unlimited text, 6GB data, 1380 start up talk, 365 days of service plus accessories. I think they are doing this trying to get customers to sign up to their unlimited plans. 

I had my sister order one to give to our younger sister that we paid for. 

I sent her a phone cover with screen protector plus a fast charger for the phone since it does not come with one from Amazon.

I would have bought one but it doesn't work in my zip code for some reason? 

I will have to buy another unlocked phone since mine won't get anymore Software or Security updates. 

The Samsung A16 does come with 6 yrs OS & 6 yrs Security updates.

People will really do themselves a favor if they will go to tracfonereviewer.blogspot. com.  (Just move the "com" right after the dot.)  He profiles all Tracfones and gives his opinion.  Here's a screenshot of the first part of his review on the Samsung A16.  He continues with an in-depth analysis of the phone.  Personally, I am not a fan of Samsung.  I like Motorola phones, but I wouldn't have the Play version if it were given to me.  Read the review about this phone on the Tracfone reviewer website, and you'll see why.  My new Motorola has wireless charging, and I love it!

I buy a new Tracfone every year. Once the minutes run out I just buy a new phone.  My issue with the phones is that they have become too heavy.  My new criteria for a phone is no contract and lightweight.

I have the Samsung A15 and it's loaded with bloatware they won't let you uninstall. I don't need a Samsung-branded browser. There are probably ten or more Samsung-branded apps on there that they won't let you remove. It turned me off Samsung phones. I just get annoyed at stuff like that. Do I need to know Samsung's "Global Goals"? Samsung seems to think that I do. (I don't.) The phone works fine, but so much of the memory is tied up in Samsung-branded apps that I don't want/need, but can't remove. If you don't mind that stuff, then the phone is fine.

In an odd quirk, if my phone is standing up leaning against something (my printer at this moment) It's iffy at launching apps by just touching the screen. I have to pick up the phone and hold it in my hands to launch an app. Why? I have no idea. The touchscreen works fine for everything else while leaning there, but it sometimes won't let me launch an app unless I pick up the phone and hold it in my hand..Proximity sensor related, maybe? I don't know, but it's odd.

@Tinkrbl44 , let us know what you think about it when you do set it up.  I'm still thinking.....I have several more months until I need to get year of service, etc.
