Best tool for sending music sound files?

I am a MAC user, and I have a 6 yo MacBook Pro, an iPad Air, iPhone 6+, and an iPad Mini.

Could someone in the know please tell me which (if any of them) of my tools could be used to record music and send it?

I need to play 30 minutes of live music, record it as I play, and send it to another site.

I am willing to buy a small laptop if necessary but I need to know WHICH MAC laptop would do what I need in the most efficient way.....

TIA

No idea but have you tried some of the Apple forums?

Re: Best tool for sending music sound files?

I'm not an Apple guy, but my Android phone has a sound recorder on it that can record sounds, including music with no trouble. I'm assuming Apple's iPhone6+ has a similar function. Once you've saved the recording to the phone then you simply have to find the file on the phone, attach it to an e-mail and send it wherever you'd like.

Now, that's how things work in the "complicated" Android/Windows world. It's not hard. The hardest part is finding where the app hides the file. I'm not sure how it works in the "simple and easy to use" Apple world, but it shouldn't be a whole lot different.

I can't guarantee the quality of the sound you'll get, but for casual listening it should be adequate. A bit of practice first would be wise to find the best placement for the phone though. Good luck!

What type of live music, what's the recording going to be used for, and is sound quality not an issue? You'll need to consider all of those before you proceed.

You can use any of those things to record sound using the built-in microphones, but they will also pick up every ambient sound - someone coughing, moving the device, walking in the room, etc. The sound quality would not be good.

If the live music were played electronically, you could record directly from the instrument with some equipment.

If it's 30 minutes, that's going to be a big file and you didn't mention the memory you have on the mobile devices. The MacBook Pro would probably have the most memory (or you could record to a thumb drive) and would allow you to easily upload the file anywhere when finished. (You upload a sound file the same way you upload any file, so as long as you have a web server or cloud account to upload it to, you should be fine.)

But without actual recording equipment, the sound quality is going to be bad, so consider the purpose of the recording and who will be listening.

Whatever you choose, I'd do several test runs before you make your final recording.
