I have a flip phone I use for emergencies only. I still have 1200 minuts left. I called tracfone and they told me I have to buy a years airtime. Anyone sell this at a good price? Tracfone gets $100 for 400 minutes. Last year they let me keep my minutes for $50 service only. Anyone help?

Check the Tracfone Reviewer blog. In the blog, he explains how inexpensively add minutes or service time. If you scroll down to his post from June 13, 2017, there is a chart comparing airtime cards. He lists coupons codes, too.

Go to the Tracfon website & purchase a pay as you go card, there is one that costs $9.99 that might work for you, add it to cart, you will see a section below the cart headed: More For Your Phone & you can choose an option called: extra service days 365 for $49.99 (it has no minutes included), add it to your cart, check out & done. I do this every year, it lets me keep the minutes I already have & keeps the cost low for me since I don't use my phone that often. Fingers crossed that I explained this ok & hope this info helps.** Make sure you purchase before your days run out or you will not be able to carry over the minutes you already have...you probably know this but it may help someone else that doesn't.

Are you saying that I purchase a one months service then add on a year's airtime for $50?

@frenchie Yes, that's what I mean. You can purchase any card you want but the $9.99 card is the cheapest & would work best since you aren't looking for many additional minutes & the 365 add on will give you 1yr service time. Doing this will add 365 + whatever days & minutes of the card you choose. I've never seen the 1yr no minutes card sold separately, it's only offered after you add a purchase to your cart.

@frenchie Any additional questions, I'm happy to help. TracFone has worked so well for me & my budget. You could call instead of using the website if that would be easier, I'm not very tech savvy & sometimes talking to a person works better for me.

kitcat51 - That is exactly how we renew our Tracfone. We read about doing it this way on a web site. This is only possible if you have (like we do) lots of minutes. We only use our two phones ocassionally so buying extra service days is the only thing we need as we have several thousand minutes on each phone because we used to have to buy tons of minutes with each years service days. By doing it this way, the total cost for a year is less than $60 which is $5 a month. Quite a bargain for people who use the cell phones like we do.

@rolen TracFone is great for my low use & budget. I use to buy the 3 month cards at the store & was surprised when I used the website & added it to my cart, a bonus buy of the 1yr no minutes card was offered...what a deal, that was 6 years ago so I've saved big $$$. I have lots of minutes so the $9.99 card & the 1yr add on is a yearly purchase. Have you seen the $49.99 1yr sold separately? I've only seen it as an add on after you add a purchase to the cart.

kitcat51 -
I have not seen the $49.99 1 year card sold by itself. But even with the $9.99 added to it, it is such a bargain.
For quite a few years, we thought the only way to get more time was to purchase the one year card that had 400 (or however many) minutes with it. I think one of our phones gets double minutes and the other triple minutes. Even with occasional texting, calls made when we were away from home, etc. our minutes kept piling up. So it was annoying to have to buy additional minutes when all we needed was the air time. When we read about purchasing the smallest amount of minutes from the Tracfone web site and then being able to add the year of time to it when it was in the cart, we were skeptical.
But it worked and we are pleased. I know some folks are unhappy with Tracfone for different reasons. But with the rather limited amount of use we make of it, it is perfect for us. When one of our original phones from maybe a dozen years ago was not able to use cell tower service anymore, Tracfone sent us for free a newer model that we are very happy with.
At home, we have a land line with lots of extensions. I like being able to answer the phone in whatever room I am in at the time without having to tote a cell phone around with me. The kids and grandkids keep riding us because we don't have modern smart cell phones. But we tell them that for our purposes, $5 a month for use of our Tracfone cells is plenty smart to us.

I agree with what @kitcat51 said. I bought one year of air time for $49 about a month ago. First I placed in my TracFone cart the "1,000 texts for $5.00" and clicked on cart and scrolled down to the add-ons where I clicked on 365 service days for $49 and placed that in my cart.
I brought up my CART and removed the "1,000 texts" and just bought the 365 service days for $49. It's a great deal.
