Battery Operated tv's to use during power failures

I know this subject comes up here from time to time, usually before hurricane season and prior to the winter blizzards/ice storms.

I know that many people now have smart phones, iPads, etc. Lots of sources to watch the news, etc.

But I've always liked to have a battery operated tv on hand (remember the Sony Watchman??) in case our power goes out for an extended period and I don't want to drain the battery in my phone watching the news/weather.

A few years ago at Radio Shack I bought a digital tv that takes regular batteries. I especially wanted regular batteries. Rechargeable batteries do no good when the power is out. I paid either $75 or $79.99 for it. I can't remember. It works well for us. Picks up CBS, ABC, Fox and PBS. I haven't been able to get an NBC station on it though. But I'm happy with two network stations.

Last year, I bought a 2nd one on Ebay- new.

Yesterday I bought a 3rd- same model, for a gift. It's the same tv that I own two of. I wanted to pass the info on here, in case anyone else would like one.

It's on Ebay and if you search for Auvio 16-972, you'll find it. And no, I don't sell on Ebay so there is nothing in it for me. I just wanted to pass on the info to anyone who might be interested. Several available and it's much less than what I originally paid for it.

I may never use it, but I like having it on hand. It runs on AA batteries.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
