Are user names case sensitive?

Seems like some websites convert my user name to capital letters, ShopHQ and my mail in pharmacy among them. Yet my browser calls up that user name in lower case letters. Before I call yet another site to find out what is wrong with my password, is it possible the user name is case sensitive? If so, why are the sites converting my name to caps when I entered lower case? Is that why I can't get in?

All user names and passwords are case sensitive. If they aren't, I wouldn't trust the site. If you're having problems, don't have the browser save either user names or passwords.
