Archived messages/chats in Facebook

I have several chats/messages (are they the same thing?) in my facebook account...they are listed under archived chats.  These are messages that I had with people that purchased something I had for sale on facebook...items have been sold.

I would like to trash those messages.  I have googled how to do it and still cannot get rid of the text.....can someone give me some advice?

thanks

Re: Archived messages/chats in Facebook

Does this help?

To delete archived messages on Facebook Messenger, you can:
  1. Tap and hold the conversation you want to delete
  2. Tap Delete Conversation
  3. Tap Delete Conversation again to confirm

You can also delete multiple chats by:
    1. Deleting a chat
    2. Tapping Delete more
    3. Selecting the chats you want to delete
  • Tapping Delete, then Delete again to confirm

Archiving a conversation hides it from your inbox, but deleting it permanently removes the message history. If someone sends you a new message in an archived conversation, the conversation will reappear in your Chat list.

Re: Archived messages/chats in Facebook

@Lilysmom1   Thank you, I saw those directions before I posted...and got now where, but I will try again.  I don't even know why they are archived... I don't save messages affer I sell an item.

I like to keep things neat and tidy, lol.

I rered the directions, and tried again, but it did not work.  I was eventually able to trash the chats - I found a tab (had to look for it) and one at a time, poof, they were gone!

Re: Archived messages/chats in Facebook

@Mom2Dogs I find FB keeps changing the way they do things.  I also find after an update I have to go in and reset my privacy settings because they revert back to what FB sets them at originally.  I have to look for new instructions all the time.  A pain.  Good for your persistence!
