My family saved money and time (time is money, everyone!!!) with Apple computers. No paying for extra software, lasts and lasts almost problem free so saves time for us. Look at all the posts from posters with windows messes, malware, hardware troubles, hours trying to fix or paying big bucks to get help. Don't just look at the up-front cost.![]()

I didn't have Windows updates set for automatic and was careful not to select optional updates especially drivers. I switched to Apple (not because I was frustrated with Windows) because I wanted a 27 inch desktop and I really like the retinal display of the MacBook Pro. I still own a Windows based computer (8.1) and it runs just fine.
I've helped a lot of people with the computer problems, I recently manually restored a computer back to factory condition, and like with most computers I've worked on, it had malware and operating system corruptions. Malware can cause a lot of problems with a computer that lasts even after the malware has been removed.
I worked automation and half of my family are still automation folks. My problems weren't from malware. They were issues with proprietary drivers, such as for my touchscreen laptop (one of the first ever available) and other leading edge features. I'm tickled pink that you never had an issue with a windows update, wish I could say the same thing, and I bet my family would as well. My daughter has been working endless overtime because of a miserable Windows roll-out where she works.
You can solve that by not downloading/installing Windows drivers. It's easy and I did it for years.
I permanently solved the problem by buying my Macbook Pro in 2011. Loved it then, still love it today. That is ALSO something I can't say about windows based PCs.
I do have to laugh at your seeming inability to accept that even PC smart automation trained folks aren't that thrilled with Windows products. That's ok, at least you're convince you're right....and my son, sil and I have had our chuckle for the day.
Your "I permanently solved the problem" line cracked me up.
I permanently solved the problem also. Couldn't be happier with my Mac. Running as good today as the day I bought it. I don't do anything different with this mac computer than I did with my (dozens) of PC computers. Mac just work when you want them to work..and continue working!!!

Thanks for the message about the update, DooBDoo. Much appreciated.
I read on a mac forum that people are having problems with their User folder being hidden after the update. I haven't done the update yet. But if you did the update and are having a problem finding it, here is an article that speaks to the root of the problem and some possible fixes.
Honestly, I don't really go into the User folder. I am the only account on this mac, so all of my folders and things I need are located right in Finder.
Do you use the User folder? What kinds of things do you need it for?

I don't understand any of this! I have an Apple IPAD2 and an IPHONE 5. Does any of this pertain to me?

No, those are both iOS operating system. The Mac computers, running Mavericks operating system, have an update available.

That little bug I mention above in the recent update, where the User folder is hidden, has been fixed. Make sure you download the iTunes 11.2.1 update. This update will keep your User folder unhidden. If you have this checked in your Finder preference, it will show in your list of finder folders on the left pane.
But...still don't understand how others use this folder? If anyone does, can you provide examples of how you use this, versus the other folders in Finder. Thanks.
