I think it’s a money grab. I got it many years ago for my first iPhone and never got it again. I have MacBook Pro, iPads, iphones and iPods. With the $ I saved, I could buy a new iPhone. LM

I rarely ever buy the extended warranties but this is pricey and I want to make sure we’re covered if she needs assistance with a problem. Hopefully it will be fine but just in case. It’s about $170 for 3 years. That dosn’t seem too bad to cover an expensive computer. I am asking for advise as many of you are far more informed than I am. Thank you.
I bought if for my first Apple computer and it wasn't worth it for me. I had one problem I was able to solve while under warranty. I had the hinged break on my iMac (a design flaw) after the warranty expired. If your granddaughter is computer illiterate or careless, it might be a good value. Most computer problems can be fixed by going to Apple forums or Google and get the solution.

@KCDivaWe have an iMac, iPad and 2 iPhones. We have Apple Care on all. We have used it on occasion to get help from Apple Tech Support. For us, it's an insurance policy we hope we never have to use but want it available just in case.

I always get Apple Care for new devices. I don't think it's too expensive and gives me one less thing to worry about.

oh yes
it is so worth it!
I fell and my iPad screen cracked.
AppleCare replaced it for me for a nominal shipping cost.

Yes, it's worth it to me. We bought the new iPad pro & got the Apple Care. I'm glad I did. It's great, even when you're troubleshooting a problem. With Apple Care you are assisted before those who don't have it. There's a convenient app that you can use to get online help. It's great.

I always take out contracts on large appliances and electronics. I have Apple Care Protection on two of my devices, one I let lapse because it’s older. Luckily I never have had to use it, you have to do what feels right for you.

@KCDiva - I always buy the Apple care and I would make sure to get it for a college student who is going to use the computer heavily.

Well I appreciate all the feedback and I got the Apple Care. It’s a ****** shoot I guess but we’ve got if we need it. It’s probably the last big present for her and I wanted to do it when I could. Looking forward to retirement and cutting back. She’ll cry when she gets it. So will I. ❤️
