Re: Anyone Going to Enabling Alexa+?

[ Edited ]

Besides what gadgetgal613 already mentioned I also use my DOT (PERSONAL ASSISTANT) to listen to.........

Math solving (I am terrible at math)

Spelling (when playing word games & using this MB)

Flasn Briefings (I am a local, national & international news junkie)

Talk Radio (local, national, international)

Podcasts (Crime type only)

Kim Commando - not sure if she is considered a podcast.

Probably why I don't see much of a difference between regular & + with my 4 DOTs.

I did manage to get the old Alexa voice back, so I'm happy. I'm used to her/that voice. The new one was a bit jarring to me.

@Mz iMac

Math

Spelling (rarely because everything has auto spell check)

Set timers

Set reminders

Weather

Grocery lists

To do lists

Run sprinkler system

Run appliances

Alarms

Whisper Mode...I love this!  Google doesn't have it.  If you need to be quiet and whisper a question or command to Alexa, she will reply in a whisper voice

Turn tvs on/off

Check status of the laundry (Google tells me when it's finished)

We used to be able to send/receive text messages but  they removed that long ago.  I think it's coming back with the big update later this month.  Can't do it with Alexa either.

Certain cars can start remotely by telling Alexa to start your car.  I don't have it set up yet.

Ask questions about any and everything under the sun.

Tell Google to remember important details. For instance, you have a new neighbor whom you've met once. You're taking them a piece of paper with your Wi-Fi password but can't remember their name. If you've told Google their name (so you won't forget), you can ask her/him, "What's my new neighbor's name?"

If you want Google to forget something you've told it, say "forget that I told you my new neighbor's name was John.

Directions and driving times

DAD JOKES

Store opening and closing times.

There is no end.  If you can think of it, you can ask your AI of choice.  But, Alexa can't hold a candle to the information king, Google.  Some say Alexa is better at automation but I've never had automation requests that  Google couldn't do.  Perhaps my automation needs aren't as complicated/involved as some.

BTW, I've had Alexa+ enabled for about 3 days and it's not made a peep unless I've asked it something.  I'm sure there is more and more to come.

Re: Anyone Going to Enable Alexa+?

A+ was enabled for a few days but it became tedious, at best, when asking her anything or doing anything. She was extremely slow and at times, unresponsive. Reverting back to the original Alexa was fine.

I reversed it because I lost all video streaming capability.
