Add to that having a landline because--

1. security system tied in and don't want to redo it.

2. fax tie in from computer.

Hope ID2 now can see from others' point of view.

Yes, and in all the reasons I listed, I hadn't even thought about it being connected to my fax!

I also like having an alternate phone number to give out since I don't like giving my cell number to everyone. Friends & family are fine, but lots of other communication is perfectly sufficient if messages are simply left on my landline. I screen all calls (landline & cell), but it's nice not to be interrupted at inconvenient times for things that really can wait. When I'm asked for my phone number, I decide which number to give out and it has made life less stressful. I don't need to be reachable 24/7 by everyone!

We were getting at least 10 calls a day from the church of scientology. They are relentless, I would pick up the phone and would press this high powered air horn that I'm sure blasted their ear drums. It took a month but the calls finally stopped.
