On the "Do not call" list, got call block....NOW I am getting spam text messages!

Is there any way to stop this nuisance?

They also call the cell and leave messages.

Discovered that you can start the call and press '77' and it will delete without having to use air time to listen to the message.  That helps!

Re: Anonymous text messages...

@Zhills  I'm also getting weird texts that don't make any sense.  I ignore them, but can't help but wonder about their origin.  Just when I get the spam/robo calls under control with blocking any calls that don't leave messages...this text nonsense starts.  At least this is a small inconvenience in life...I'm not giving it any more thought.

Who is making the calls and texts is not my concern.  It is just aggravating to "go get the phone" so often and it is SPAM!

When I asked the guy at the AT&T store, he said just reply....*STOP* and it works!

OK, so I am not that smart, but how do you get a phone call from 56893?

@Zhills et al, one of lates tricks here on robo calls on the cellphone is to not show the complete number.  I thought that meant I couldn’t block the call but I have been pressing block anyway and I think it works.  What a PIA.  LM

Don't respond, don't obsess over them because you can't stop them.  We all get them.  T Mobile is doing a great job of stopping scam calls.  The phone rings once and then I get the "likely a scam call" message.  But think the scammers are getting around that by sending text messages.  I just delete them.  I'm also getting more suspicious emails.  It's a pain in the buttt but that's life now.

Re: Anonymous text messages...

I've gotten a few spam text messages lately, too, and they've been lewd.  It's so annoying.  I wish someone could stop these types of calls and texts.  I know Chuck Schumer wanted the FCC to crack down on robocalls, but I don't think anything came of that.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Sky through Tracfone and it has number blocking and message blocking capability, but the issue that I've had is my list is full and I can't add any more numbers.  I installed the Hiya app to block spam calls, but I'm not sure if that also works on texts.  If I get a spam text I'll go into the Samsung (not Hiya app) blocked number list and remove the oldest number and then block the newest number, so no more text messages will come through.

Just go to settings and block these texts that is what I did when I was getting texts from strangers from facebook after I took myself off it years ago.
