An interesting quirk if you have Verizon FIOS Internet.

For some reason, my FIOS Internet has been stalling on downloading Twitter and Instagram. They'll just sit there and won't load fully for several minutes. Sometimes not at all.  Everything else works fine but they just stall. I know it's not the apps as when I use my mobile data both work fine. It's not the network speed as I get close to a gig download speeds on speed tests.

 

So, I activated the Guest network today to test that and see if the problem persisted there and it didn't. A bit of searching around shows that their router uses something called the SON (Self-Organizing Network) and that disabling that seems to solve a lot of problems. Sure enough, it works now. If you find yourself having that problem, then disable the SON and your problems may go away. It fixed my issues. (At least for now. It pays to never assume a problem with computers is ever truly gone.)
