UPS just delivered an Amazon Fire HD 7 inch tablet I had ordered for the little girl next door for Christmas. I mistakenly didn't check that it was a gift so it's registered to my account..I haven't opened it yet...do I need to open it to deregistered it?...I went to "Manage my devices" and its not there...I kinda didn't want to open it and give it to her unopened for the present...thanks...DW

Yes. To finish the registrations you have to power it up, then do a factory reset and then remove it from Manage my devices.

She's a sweet little girl going through a tough time..Her parents are getting divorced and its hard for a little one to understand...Especially at 8 years old...DW

I believe you can go online to your account, manage devices and unregister it. I did it to myself this morning. Also the kindle is a great gift. i have 2. The 7 hdx and the new 6. i go the 6 for I wanted a rear camera
