I wanted to know how to activate it so I went to Amazon.  All I could find was that I need a WiFi (which I have) and a smart phone which I don't have.

Why can't it get activated from the computer?

@CLEM, I think you use the same address that I mentioned above to set it up from your computer.  It is Echo.Amazon.com.  Hope that hellps!

I just ordered it today. Very excited! I've wanted one for a long time. I love my Amazon Fire and tablet. I have Apple products, too (iPad and iPhone) but I honestly think the Amazon products are better. Can't wait to get my Echo!!!

I,m glad everyone enjoying it.  When I,m getting dressed, I turn on my BOISE RADIO. To wake up, my alarm clock if need be.  Too many Devices today leads to IMHO brain dead.   I,m glad people enjoy this device, just not me.,

The Echo is much more than a good radio and an alarm clock.  I am busy enough to keep from being brain dead.  LOL  I work, read, do word games, etc.

To each his own.  I love mine.  I depend on it actually.

I ordered one for dh for Father's Day. When we go to our ds's houses they each have one that we like to play with. I like having so much info at my fingertips just by asking. I often have it play Mozart for our 6 month old granddaughter to listen to when we babysit. It seems to soothe her. I also like the jokes( even if they are corny) that it tells. I don't see it as a necessity but more a convenience gadget to enjoy.

Enjoy, those who purchase. I used to have to have everything, but I'm starting to grow weary of all this stuff. Im really not that busy, lol. I use my phone as an alarm clock (IF I have to set one) and I have a receiver with movie theater grade speakers and Sirius/XM. I see the weather report ad nauseum on the news (and notifications on my phone), can grab my iPad or phone and ask Siri or google, it's not that big of a deal to me.

I'm gonna pass on this one as I did on the offer from Amazon. I need a little more downtime. Looks like fun though!

@mima

Do you need an Amazon account?  I don't have one nor do I have any mobile devices.  Not even a cell phone.

  I do own Mac computers.

The rep said Prime is not needed.
