I love my Echo...I bought it as a reminder to do hourly tasks with my hadicapped daughter...thus no more setting timers by hand! If you have to remember something you tell her, you can add events to google calenders, the shopping list is great as you can tell it to add gravy to list as you take the last jar out of the pantry before you forget to write it down. You can ask what time a show is on tv, you can listen to your favorite radio station via the Tunein app even if it's 2000 miles away. I use Spotify to listen to Playlists and my 400 CD collection of music that is stored in Amazon Music and I'm amazed how many songs I haven't heard over the years. I get school day forecasts and news updates plus favorite sports scores or updates when I need them, all by asking her! I had second thoughts about the value of this when I first got it when it was only a week old and now as she got older and more and more apps and updates come out weekly I find that it has made life easier and this in my opinion should get 10 stars!

Do you need an Amazon account?  I don't have one nor do I have any mobile devices.  Not even a cell phone.

  I do own Mac computers.

@Mz iMac  Yes, you have to have an Amazon account.  I don't believe you have to have Prime though.  It is nice because you can play all your music through Prime, but you don't need Prime (to the best of my knowledge).  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

@RinaRina You can print out your grocery list from the computer like I said before.  You go to echo.amazon.com (on your computer) and you can print it or edit it from there.  Or you can take your smart phone with you to the store and it will be on an app there too.  I like printing it out if I remember to do it before I go to the store.

By the way, you can set up your Echo from your computer.  You do not need the app on a tablet or smart phone.    You just go to the website I keep posting to set it up.

will this ECHO still have enough features for me to use even if i dont have prime?

@ Sunshine45, As far as I'm concerned, YES it has enough features.  The only reason you would need Prime is to listen to your Prime music.  It would do everything else mentioned in this thread.

Great! That makes a difference to me.  Definitely worth having!

Thanks.
